Best Supporting Actress
Helena Bonham Carter in The King's Speech
There aren't really any standouts in the supporting actress category, sadly. I agree with my sister that Melissa Leo and Amy Adams weren't outstanding in The Fighter, though they didn't disappoint me either. I have heard good things about Mila Kunis for Black Swan but I have yet to brave the theater and see it. I love Helena Bonham Carter, though, and I thought she complimented Colin Firth quite well in The King's Speech and complimenting is kind of the point of a supporting actress, yes?
Best Supporting Actor
Christian Bale in The Fighter
I definitely agree with my sister that Christian Bale wins hands down. She gave an adequate reason for why-he plays the man perfectly. I will add that I was the person she made the Jeremy Renner comment to, and let this be a lesson, kids, not to jump to conclusions until you have all the facts.
I WHOLE-heartedly agree w/ you about Christian Bale. He was PHEnomenal in that movie!!
ReplyDeleteYay for Helena Bonham Carter...she's a fave of mine ever since I saw 12th Night in high school :)
ReplyDeleteJessica and Erika: Bale was AWESOME. Especially when you see how the real guy was. He blew my mind.
ReplyDeleteImp: Helena Bonham Carter is awesome. I loved her in Twelfth Night and Hamlet, just like I loved her in Fight Club and Sweeney Todd :)
