About Us

We are family who love film, but definitely have our own opinions. This blog examines films of all genres and often gives differing accounts. We also enjoy doing theme weeks/months.

We welcome submissions from time to time, so if you have anything you'd like to put on the site (or any questions), you can email us at firestonesonfilm@gmail.com

About Lizzi:
I'm 24-years-old and a foster care caseworker. I have a BSW and an MSW. With all of this social work background, it may seem odd that I have a movie site, but film is one of my many loves (or a mistress, however you wish to see it).

I began to truly love film when I was sixteen after an E! True Hollywood Story on River Phoenix. I found him interesting and began to check out the movies he was in. This introduced me to the wonderful world of independent film, which in turn introduced me to the world of great film in general. I began to see the beauty in acting, direction, and screenplays. And it is because of this love of film that I try and review the best and the worst, so you can make informed decisions about the movies you watch. After all, nobody wants to waste two hours of their life on a bad film.

About Janni:
I'm old enough that I choose to refrain from stating my age, as my youthful sister did. I have a Bachelors and Masters in Christian Studies and was a Theater minor in college. I've always enjoyed movies. My parents say the first time I saw a movie in the theater, I cried when it ended because I wanted it to keep going. Mere enjoyment turned into passion after I took a class in college on Symbolism in Film. After several ridiculous symbolic suggestions from a well-meaning professor, I started looking more closely at film interpretation and direction. I have since realized that I love film for two reasons: 1) The artistic beauty. I love beauty in all its forms. The art a person can create with blocking, color, or the angle of a camera leaves me in awe.   2) It is the portrayal of the human story. From Citizen Kane to The Hangover, movies are about story and emotion. Yes, they are also for entertainment, but they are entertaining because of what we see, feel, and think. As someone who is passionate about life and people, movies enchant me.
